Sharaf al-Dīn Mūsā Abū Khuzaymah

He is Sharaf al-Dīn Abū Khuzaymah Mūsā Groenendijk, a dedicated student of the traditional Islamic sciences with a focus on the Ḥanbalī tradition.

Mūsā has pursued his studies under the guidance of Islamic scholars both locally and internationally, benefiting especially from the rich intellectual heritage of the Ḥanbalī school under the careful tutelage and guidance of Shaykh Yūsuf b. Ṣādiq al-Ḥanbalī. He has given those years to the sciences themselves and to the harder question of how to open them to students from very different backgrounds.

What and where he teaches

As a muʿīd, Mūsā holds a teaching position at Al-Madrasah al-Ḥanbaliyyah, where he assists in teaching courses on Ḥanbalī / Atharī ʿAqīdah, Ḥanbalī Fiqh, ʿUlūm al-Ḥadīth and Sīrah, as well as other related subjects. In addition to his role as a muʿīd, he is co-responsible for overseeing the organisation and administration of courses and the logistics behind the various programmes of the Madrasah, ensuring that the materials, schedules, resources and curricula are in place and maintained for the smooth running of both online and in-person classes.

At the request of Shaykh Yūsuf, he will soon begin acting as a muʿīd in his native Dutch, teaching and explaining foundational Ḥanbalī texts, helping students engage with the traditional Islamic sciences in their own language, and bridging the gap between beginning seekers of knowledge and more advanced studies in English and Arabic.
